A Taste of Summer in Mallorca

Dear Wanderers,

Summer is here, and I can't think of a better way to soak it in than with a few days on a Spanish island. This Balearic beauty is perfect for a little escape - four or five nights of sunshine, clear blue water, and food that makes you want to linger at the table just a little longer.

spent my time between two very different spots on the island - both equally special in their own way.

First stop: the iconic Belmond La Residencia, set on terraces that tumble down the hillside with views that take your breath away. It’s close to the charming village of Deià, and the whole place feels like a painting brought to life. Mornings here were slow and sweet, with delicious breakfasts and birdsong for company.

Spend a day on the beach or hop in a car and go exploring — there’s always another hidden cove or pretty stretch of road waiting for you. Make sure to stop in Valldemossa for a wander, a little shopping, a scoop of ice cream, and a coffee in the sun.

One evening I stayed local for dinner in town, and another night we drove about 45 minutes to Palma for some truly incredible sushi. If you’ve never been, Palma — the island’s capital — is so worth a visit: old town streets paved in cobblestones, a grand Gothic church, tiny cafés tucked away where you can watch the world go by.

After days in the hills, I headed north to discover the brand-new Four Seasons in Formentor — a hidden spot for when you really want to switch off. Here, life is all about simple pleasures: time at the spa, a beach that feels like your own, and water so clear and blue you can’t help but jump in.

If you’re up for a little adventure, you can take a boat out for the day or try some watersports right off the beach. I even hiked up a nearby mountain for views that stretched as far as I could see — and made every step worth it.
